Daily DeviationSushi II by *vrdesigner Elegant, traditionally displays of Japanese food, chopsticks acts as movement and directions to the center where a red shrimp is teasing your taste buds; fresh and ready to serve. The photo it-self has a black background and vertical crop which support the composition and the movement to the center zone. (Featured by `leodadominico)

you'd love the sushi bar we go to, it's a trip.. the woman who makes the sushi is constantly ordering her husband around & making jokes about him. but it's the best sushi ever! & the entertainment is original ;)

:sushi: is a way of life...:+fav:

The sushi ingredients are fine, but typically the ebi is much larger and butterflied so that it covers the gohan and wasabi. The gohan is a bit small, and also isn't the right shape. More of a football than a rectanguloid shape.

It's not the worst sushi i've seen, a local place in S.F. called Murasaki Mushi, supposedly rated the best sushi place in San Francisco, you can tell the haole that runs it just puts rice in a rectangle pan, covers it with slices of fish, and cuts the rice into squares! Ugh...

But enough of that...

Artistically this piece is a really good job. The way the hashi are angled guides your eyes down into the sushi itself which really calls attention to it. The contrast in shape between the ebi, dot of wasabi and elliptoid gohan is really nice, and the space gives it a nice clean minimalistic feel.
